Work injuries can cause symptoms such as pain, stiffness, numbing and tingling. This can lead to reduced productivity, loss of work time, and inability to perform your tasks. It can even be disabling for some.
How are these injuries caused?
Prolonged, forceful, or repetitive exertion, heavy lifting, pulling or pushing, awkward posture, and vibrations can cause work injuries.
How can such injuries be prevented?
- Correct your posture. Your workstation and your chair should be set up such that any unnecessary demand on your body is minimized.
- Your work area should be neat and organized.
- If you are lifting a heavy box or any other object, maintain proper form. When you lift something, bend your legs and not your back.
